EAST RIVER MEDICAL IMAGING BRINGS LEADING EDGE LOW DOSE CT TO MANHATTAN.

July11, 2011-New York, N.Y.- East River Medical Imaging, is proud to announce the installation of ASiR, which is a new advanced image reconstruction technique, that makes it possible to dramatically reduce radiation dose to patients up to 40% without compromising image quality.

ASiR (Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction) dose reduction technology is an industry-exclusive advanced approach to image reconstruction, which is only available on GE Healthcare’s newer state-of -the-art scanners.

East River Medical Imaging is one of the first radiology facilities in Manhattan to offer this innovative advancement.  The investment in this new technology allows East River Medical Imaging to maintain their continuing promise to uphold the finest quality of patient care.

“We are now routinely scanning patients using this technology with a 40% reduction in radiation exposure compared to our previous protocols. We can now image more gently, with a significantly lower dose without compromising our goal of the highest diagnostic image quality”, stated Dr. Steven Albert, a partner at East River Medical Imaging.

Start Early for Best Detection

Despite recent controversy reported in the media,  the American Cancer Society and the American College of Radiology (ACR) continue to strongly recommend that women 40 years and older should have regular mammography screening to help detect the early stages of breast cancer – earlier for higher-risk patients. Imaging of the breast improves a physician's ability to detect small tumors. When cancers are small, the woman has more treatment options and a cure is more likely. Screening mammography is the only diagnostic technique that has been scientifically proven to decrease mortality and improve patient outcomes from breast cancer. While self and doctor-performed breast exams are important, there is no substitute for annual screening mammography. Consult with your physician about what is best for you. Or call East River Women’s Imaging at 212-832-8320 for more information about mammography and how we are the only office in Manhattan to offer the MammoPad®, a latex-free cushion which reduces the pain of mammography by up to 75%.
