Now Offers Advanced MRI Neuro Analysis for Alzheimer's Disease

January 18, 2012, New York, NY – East River Medical Imaging is proud to introduce a new quantitative tool which provides us with enhanced diagnostic capabilities that can help in the assessment of patients with suspected Alzheimer's disease and other neurological disorders.

The DynaSuite Neuro with NeuroQuant Solution from Invivo takes high-resolution 3D MRI scans and automatically processes the data for easy physician review within minutes, a process which previously took days. NeuroQuant returns a full-volume spatially corrected and anatomically labeled dataset containing the absolute and relative volumes of the hippocampus, amygdala, lateral ventricles and other neuroanatomical structures, plotting them against an age-related normative database to give an Age-Related Atrophy Report. Using NeuroQuant analytics, ERMI neuroradiologists will be able to track hippocampal atrophy over time.

The Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) is a global collaboration of scientists who have conducted a longitudinal multisite observational study and established standards for evaluation of elderly individuals with normal cognition, mild cognitive impairment, or Alzheimer's disease. For patients over 50 years of age with memory loss or cognitive impairment, ADNI criteria and the quantitative analysis NeuroQuant may predict and monitor the progression of Alzheimer's disease.

Alzheimer's disease is the sixth-leading cause of death in the United States. An estimated 5.3 million Americans of all ages have Alzheimer's disease. While the vast majority are aged 65 and older, the Alzheimer's Association estimates that there are 500,000 individuals under the age of 65 have early-onset Alzheimer's disease.
