The physicians in our group are
all certified by the American Board of Radiology
and represent all areas of sub-specialty training, including
MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Neuroradiology.
Each physician
is devoted to teaching and maintains faculty
and clinical appointments at The New York Hospital -
Cornell University Medical Center, Hospital for Special
Surgery, and Lenox Hill Hospital.
Richard
Katz, M.D.
Board Certified in 1976, Dr. Katz
is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology
at Cornell University Medical College. Prior to assuming
that position, he completed a clinical fellowship in
CT and Ultrasound at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical
Center where he has served as Assistant Attending Radiologist
since 1980.
Dr. Katz held an appointment for
more than a decade as Assistant Roentgenologist
at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. He has written
and co-authored articles on MRI, CT, and Ultrasound
imaging. In addition, he has presented papers at meetings
of the Radiological Society of North America and the
American College of Radiology.
Dr. Katz received his M.D. from
the University of Oklahoma. He completed his
medical internship at North Shore Hospital / Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center prior to entering his
residency in Diagnostic Radiology at The New York Hospital-Cornell
Medical Center, where he was Chief Resident in Radiology.
Morton
Schneider, M.D.
Dr. Schneider was certified
by the American Board of Radiology in 1974. He is an
Assistant Clinical Professor of Radiology at the New
York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center. In
addition, he is a consulting radiologist at Lenox Hill
Hospital and in Diagnostic Ultrasound at Brooklyn Hospital.
As Associate Attending Radiologist
at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, he
previously held positions as Director of Uroradiology
and Associate Director of Ultrasound and Body CT. He
also was Director of Diagnostic Ultrasound at Downstate
Medical Center - SUNY and Attending Radiologist at Kings
County Hospital. In addition, Dr. Schneider held an
academic appointment as Associated Professor of Clinical
Radiology at Downstate Medical Center-SUNY. During his
14 years in academia, he lectured throughout the country
on body imaging and ultrasound.
Dr. Schneider has been an examiner
in Ultrasound and Body CT for the American Board of
Radiology. He has co-authored a book on Pediatric Ultrasound,
chapters on MRI and body imaging in several textbooks,
and more than thirty articles on diagnostic radiology.
Dr. Schneider received his M.D.,
and was a resident at Downstate Medical Center-SUNY
where he was Chief Resident of Diagnostic Radiology.
Steven
Albert, M.D.
Certified by the American Board
of Radiology in 1985, Dr. Albert has served
as Assistant Attending Radiologist at The New York Hospital-Cornell
University Medical Center since 1986. He completed his
fellowship in MRI, CT, and Ultrasound at Yale University
- New Haven Hospital.
Dr. Albert has written
chapters in orthopedic textbooks and lectured on imaging
techniques in sports medicine. His earlier research
and publications were in the field of ischemia and fluid
management at Cornell University Medical College's Department
of Surgery.
A member of Phi Beta Kappa and
Alpha Omega Alpha as well as a Summa Cum Laude
graduate, he received his M.D. from the Medical College
of Virginia. He completed a surgical internship and
radiology residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell
Medical Center serving as Chief Resident in his final
year.
Alison
Bender Haimes, M.D.
Board Certified in 1986, Dr.
Haimes is Assistant Attending Radiologist at The New
York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and serves as a
Consultant to the Department of Radiology at The Hospital
for Special Surgery. Dr. Haimes previously served as
a Consultant to the Department of Radiology at Memorial
Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center where she held the position
of Assistant Attending Radiologist.
She completed fellowships
in CT/Ultrasound and Neuroradiology at The New York
Hospital-Cornell Medical Center and received her Certificate
of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology in 1995.
A co-author of many articles in
professional journals, Dr. Haimes has made
presentations before the American Society of Neuroradiology
and the Radiological Society of North American, as well
as several invited lectures.
A member of Phi Beta Kappa and
Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Societies, Dr. Haimes
received her M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania
and was a resident in Radiology at The New York Hospital-Cornell
Medical Center where she was Chief Resident in her final
year.
Stephen
Greenberg, M.D.
Certified by the American Board
of Radiology in 1995, Dr. Greenberg served
as Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at New
York University School of Medicine before joining East
River Medical Imaging in July of 1997. Dr. Greenberg
received a Certificate of Added Qualification in Neuroradiology
by the American Board of Radiology in 1997 and serves
as Assistant Attending Radiologist at The New York Hospital-Cornell
University Medical Center.
He completed a fellowship
in Neuroradiology at New York University Medical Center.
Dr. Greenberg has written and
co-authored articles in several professional
journals. He has presented original research at meetings
of the Radiological Society of North America and has
given both lectures and workshops in Neuroradiology.
A Summa Cum Laude graduate, he received his M.D. from
New York University School of Medicine. He completed
a medical internship at North Shore University Hospital
and radiology residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt
Hospital Center where he was Chief Resident in his final
year.
Douglas
DeCorato, M.D.
Certified by the American Board
of Radiology in 1995, Dr. DeCorato completed
his fellowship in Magnetic Resonance Imaging at the
New York University School of Medicine in 1996. He is
a graduate of SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn
and performed his residency at St. Luke’s-Roosevelt
Hospital Center where he was chief resident his final
year.
Dr. DeCorato has been the director
of Body MRI at both the Phillips Ambulatory
Care Center of the Beth Israel Medical Center and of
Beth Israel Hospital North. He is a member of several
Scientific and Medical Societies. He is currently the
Alternate Delegate to the New York State Radiologic
Society. He has written and co-authored numerous articles
and presentations on MRI and MRA. In addition, he has authored
several chapters in medical text books and currently
serves as Assistant Attending Radiologist at The New
York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center.
Gavin
Duke, M.D.
Certified by the American Board
of Radiology in 2000, Dr. Duke is an Assistant
Professor of Radiology at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Duke received his residency training at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Memorial
Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and served as chief resident.
He completed his body MRI fellowship at New York University
Medical Center and served as Clinical assistant Professor
of Radiology. He served as Assistant Attending at Bellevue
Hospital and part time Attending at NYU Downtown Hospital.
Dr. Duke graduated from
the University of Cape Town Medical School
in South Africa. He served as a Medical Officer in various
medical disciplines in both South Africa and the United
Kingdom prior to starting his residency training in
the United States. He has co-authored several radiology
and surgery journal articles and abstracts.
Barbara
Braffman, M.D.
A graduate of Albert Einstein
College of Medicine in 1984, Dr. Braffman completed
her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Mount Sinai
Medical Center where she served as chief resident. On
completing her residency in 1989, Dr. Braffman was certified
by the American Board Of Radiology and pursued a fellowship
in body imaging at the Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania.
Combining her skills in
body imaging and experience in breast imaging acquired
in both academic and private practice, Dr. Braffman
has developed an expertise in the area of Women's Imaging.
Her achievements include
yearly college awards for academic excellence, Phi Beta
Kappa and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society
Award.
Dr. Braffman has presented
numerous original papers, abstracts and lectures. In
addition to other topics, Dr. Braffman has lectured
on image-directed breast biopsy with pathologic correlation,
the abnormal mammogram, mammographic features of breast
cancer and sonography in ectopic pregnancy.
Clyde Hershan, M.D.
Board certified in 1980, Dr. Hershan is an Assistant clinical professor of Radiology at the New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Hershan is a past president of The Radiological Society of New Jersey. He was previously Medical Director; Division of Radiology, Pascack Valley Hospital, Westwood, New Jersey.
Dr. Hershan received his MD from the Chicago Medical School and is a member of The Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He was Chief Resident in Radiology and completed fellowships in CT and Ultrasound at The New York Hospital Cornell Medical Center.
Paul Choi, M.D.
Certified by the American Board of Radiology in 2004, Dr. Choi specializes in the field of Neuroradiology and Head & Neck Radiology. He completed his fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center. He serves as Assistant Professor of Radiology at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
Dr. Choi completed his residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where he served as chief resident during his final year. Dr. Choi has participated in several neuroradiology lectures and presented at the American Society of Neuroradiology. He is a member of the American Society of Neuroradiology as well as the American College of Radiology.
Dr. Choi graduated and received his M.D. from SUNY Downstate School of Medicine. He completed his internship at Winthrop University Hospital.
Sean Herman, M.D.
Certified by the American Board of Radiology in 2004, Dr. Herman completed his fellowship in Cross-Sectional Imaging at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He joined our practice after spending time as Attending Clinical Radiologist at Yale Diagnostic Radiology.
Dr. Herman received his residency training at Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he served as chief resident of Diagnostic Radiology. Prior to his residency training, Dr. Herman completed his internship at Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. Herman graduated from New York University School of Medicine. He has written and co-authored many radiology articles.
Robert Ludwig, M.D.
Dr. Ludwig was certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1985. He completed his fellowship in CT/Ultrasound/Interventional Radiology at the New England Deaconess Hospital-Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA.
Prior to completing his diagnostic radiology residency at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, Dr. Ludwig spent his first post graduate year at Lenox Hill Hospital. Before joining our practice, Dr. Ludwig served as Chief of Diagnostic Radiology at Northern Westchester Hospital, where he was also a member of the hospital Medical Board. During this time, he also served as Medical Director at the hospital-affiliated multi-modality outpatient imaging center.
Dr. Ludwig received his M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. In addition to his special interest in body CT and musculoskeletal imaging, Dr. Ludwig has extensive experience with breast MRI interpretation.
Gwen Harris , M.D.
Prior to joining East River Medical Imaging in September 2005, Dr. Harris served as Physician in Charge Body MRI at North Shore University Hospital since July 1992. She has also held academic appointments at Cornell University Medical College and New York University School of Medicine. Dr. Harris has participated in writing several articles as well as a book chapter on body MRI.
Dr. Harris was certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1991. She completed her fellowship in Ultrasound, Computed Body Tomography, and Magnetic Resonance Imaging at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr Harris fulfilled her residency training at North Shore University Hospital for diagnostic radiology after finishing her medical internship at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Dr. Harris received her M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
George
Stassa, M.D. (Ret)
Dr. Stassa retired from
practice in 2001. Certified by the American
Board of Radiology in 1965, Dr. Stassa was a Clinical
Associate Professor of Radiology at Cornell University
Medical College where he had been affiliated since 1964,
teaching Anatomy and Radiology. An Associate Attending
Radiologist at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical
Center since 1971, he also has been a consultant to,
and had staff appointments at Roosevelt Hospital and
Lenox Hill Hospital.
Dr. Stassa
has written on the subjects of radiology and
fluoroscopy as well as lectured on dental scanning
at the Greater New York Dental Meeting and at three
of the area's major Schools of Dentistry. As a visiting
professor at Beijing University and Peking Medical College
(China), Hokkaido University (Japan), and the Implant
Society of Taiwan, his lectures on dental imaging have
been expanded to include the newly emerging simulated
implant technology, a subject on which he conducts seminars
at East River.
With an M.D. from Columbia University
School of Physicians and Surgeons, Dr. Stassa
completed his residency at Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital. |
