An esophagram is x-ray examination that evaluates the pharynx and esophagus and using fluoroscopy (x-ray). Images are taken after barium, a liquid contrast that coats the walls of the esophagus, is orally ingested.

Esophagram Preparation: Do not eat or drink anything 12 hours prior to the exam.
