Nuclear Medicine Parathyroid
A Nuclear Medicine Parathyroid Scan is an exam to determine the function and health of the parathyroid gland which regulates calcium uptake in the body using a GE Entegra Nuclear Medicine gamma camera. For the exam, the patient is injected with 25 mci Tc99 sestamibi nuclear agent and 20 minutes later the scan begins. The scan time is about 30 minutes and the patient is also required to return 3 hours later for another 30 minutes of additional scanning.
