Nuclear Medicine Renal Scan and Flow
A Nuclear Medicine renal scan shows what the kidneys look like, how well they work and can diagnose disease using a GE Entegra Nuclear Medicine gamma camera. The patient is injected with 10 mci Tc99 Mag3 nuclear agent and scanning begins immediately and lasts 30 minutes. In some cases, the doctor may give an additional injection of Lasix to evaluate for proper “washout” or obstruction of the kidneys followed by another 30 minutes of scanning.
What to expect during the procedure:
- Patient’s will be asked to lie still on a table while a gamma camera obtains the necessary images
