Thyroid Biopsies
A thyroid biopsy involves obtaining a sample of tissue using a small needle. Local anesthetic is administered to reduce discomfort during the procedure. Ultrasound is used to guide the biopsy needle to the appropriate location. Once in the correct location it takes about 30 seconds to obtain the sample.
The biopsy sample is reviewed by our on-site pathologist to insure an adequate specimen.
