US Male Pelvis

An ultrasound is a safe and painless test that uses sound waves to make images of the internal structures of the body. The study will take approximately 30 minutes.

What to expect during the procedure:

  • The patient will be asked to change into a gown and lie on a table. The exam room is usually dark so the images can be seen clearly on the computer screen.
  • The technician will then move a small wand (transducer) over the area to be imaged. A warm, clear gel will be placed between the transducer and the skin to facilitate the transmission of the sound waves into and out of the body.

Preparation

  • You need to have a full bladder for the study. Please do not urinate once you reach the office. If you do not feel your bladder is full please drink water once you arrive at the office.
